Ayra Starr and Tems has in a recent ranking by Nigerian Music Global Impact added another feather to their caps as the duo emerged most-streamed Nigerian artistes globally in the first half of 2024.
Ayra Starr’s and Tems’ vocal prodigies and creativities in the rhythm of their music has distinctively positioned them in the global stage with their various tracks making Global Impact List.
This report is according to Global Impact List in Nigeria, which pointed out top 30 tracks from Nigeria with the most tremendous influence on Spotify in the first half of 2024.
The chart considers the tracks that were released from 1 January and 30 June, and acknowledges Nigerian track with the most listens from outside Nigeria.
The two supers female artistes, Ayra Starr known for her “Comma” which clinched second in the list, and Tems’ “Love Me Jeje,” which came third.
With “Santa,” a collaboration between Ayra Starr and Rauw Alejandro, which stood in the pinnacle of the list.
The recognition brought about by the list emphasizes on the influence of international collaborations as top eight of the ten tracks on the list features global superstars such as, Pheelz with Usher and Burna Boy with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s head music for Sub-Saharan Africa, stressed that tracks announced by the Global Impact list is a testament to the global recognition of Nigerian music.
Ms Okumu further said “It showcases the top 30 artistes with the highest global streaming numbers, underscoring Nigerian music’s impressive reach and impact.
“Nigerian music, especially Afrobeats, has captivated global audiences with its infectious rhythms, compelling storytelling, and innovative sound fusions. Its ability to transcend cultural and geographical boundaries is truly remarkable. At Spotify, we are thrilled to witness and support the continued evolution of this vibrant scene.”
The top eight tracks in the list feature global superstar such as Pheelz with Usher and Burna Boy with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin.
Other significant entries include Luciano and Omah Lay’s “Another Vibe” at fourth and Savage and Burna Boy’s “Metro Boomin Just Like Me” at fifth.
Tems and Tyla’s “No.1” ranked sixth.Usher and Pheelz’s “Ruin” hit seventh, Reis B and Tempoe’s “Pretty Girl” eighth, and TitoM, Yuppe, Burna Boy, and S.N.E’s “Tshwala Bam” ninth.
Ayra Starr and Giveon’s “Last Heartbreak Song” hit the 10th spot, followed by Victony’s “Everything” in the 11th, and Aya Nakamura and Ayra Starr’s “Hype” in the 12th.
Tems and J. Cole’s “Free Fall” ranked 13th.
“Coming Home”, a collaboration by Usher and Burna Boy, came in at 14th position, and Ayra Starr and Seyi Vibez’s “Bad Vibes” made it at 15th, among others.
