A boy simply identified as Samson, 23, who is said to be a drug addicts reportedly stabbed his mother to death in Obiaruku, Delta State.
Following the ugly incident, the operative of the Delta State police command has arrested the suspect for his inhumane act.
According to report, Samson was sent to Asaba, the state capital after his secondary school to acquire a skill.
He was however, force to return back to Obiaruku after being initiated into a group of boys indulging in drugs, which affected Samson’s brain.
It was said that the suspect was brought back to Obiaruku, afterward his mother took him for treatment at native mental health facility to curb his mental challenge.
Narration of the incident by an eyewitness
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, narrated the incident to Vanguard newspaper, “They live on Jehovah Street, Obiedike Obiaruku, close to my shop.
“The mother is in her 50s, but certainly not up to 60.
“At around 5 a.m., the mother came outside and saw her son, Samson, smoking. She confronted him, telling him it was too early.
“Perhaps she shouted at him. Then Samson went inside, brought out a knife, and stabbed his mother. The elder brother, who is a sickle cell patient, was the one who shouted, which made people enter the compound because the gate of the compound was still locked at the time.”
Neighbors who were around the scene further told newsmen through phone call
that the boy, Samson, had been bound by drug addiction since he returned from Asaba, where he went to learn a skill.
A video clip of the awful scene seen by Journalist shows neighbors begging Samson to let go of the knife, most of them in the video was seen on house top and fences separating their houses.
The video showed Samson wearing boxers without shirt standing by his mother’s corpse, who lied engulfed in a pool of blood.
The spokenperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident said the suspect has been nabbed.
